The Smart Structural Health Monitoring and Control Lab (SSHMC Lab) at Dongguan University of Technology, headed by renowned expert Prof. David Bassir, has initiated a strategic and innovative partnership with the Robotic and Autonomous Research Lab (RARL) at Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, led by esteemed researcher Dr. Ata Jahangir Moshayedi. This collaboration aims to significantly advance research and innovation in structural health monitoring and control systems.

At the heart of this partnership is the integration of advanced structural analysis methods and robotic technologies to enhance the safety, reliability, and longevity of critical infrastructure. SSHMC Lab’s expertise in structural analysis, finite element modeling, and monitoring solutions is complemented by RARL Lab’s specialization in robotics, autonomous systems, and AI-driven sensing methodologies. This synergy aims to address pressing challenges in infrastructure monitoring for civil engineering projects, including bridges, railways, high-rise buildings, and transportation networks.

Both labs have committed to intensive academic exchanges, joint seminars, and researcher visits to cultivate a dynamic research environment. These collaborative efforts are expected to generate innovative solutions that enhance predictive maintenance capabilities, improve real-time monitoring efficiency, and ultimately strengthen public safety while reducing infrastructure management costs.

Recent activities between the two labs including expert visits, presentations, joint seminars, and formal agreement ceremonies underscore their shared commitment to international collaboration and scientific excellence. Particular emphasis is placed on knowledge transfer and capacity-building through joint research initiatives, grant applications, and industry partnerships.

With aligned objectives and complementary strengths, SSHMC Lab and RARL Lab are poised to lead advancements in integrated structural health monitoring and autonomous robotic systems, making a significant contribution to global infrastructure resilience.
