About Us
Smart Structural Health Monitoring and Control Laboratory (SSHMC) was founded on October 1st, 2024, at Dongguan University of Technology – DCI-CNAM within the Sino-French Scientific Cooperation, following the arrival of Prof. David Bassir. It was created as an international research platform focused on the intelligent diagnosis, monitoring, and control of civil infrastructure systems.

Our Mission
SSHMC aims to enhance infrastructure resilience using cutting-edge tools across five strategic pillars :
-
Detection Methods: Developing robust algorithms for structural fault identification
-
Feature Selection: Extracting and refining key data for predictive models
-
Data Acquisition: Using advanced sensors (2D optical images, 3D images like IRT, IE, GPR)
-
Digital Twin Modeling: Creating precise virtual replicas for real-time simulation
-
Prediction of Remaining Life Cycles: Enhancing long-term structural safety

Our Research Focus
SSHMC is structured into three specialized research groups:
-
Advanced Modeling and Control
-
Digital Twin & Advanced Decision
-
Non-Destructive Testing & Acquisition
Collaborations & Visits
At SSHMC, we collaborate with global researchers, universities, and industry to advance smart monitoring, digital twins, and AI-based structural diagnostics.
We host visiting scholars, and graduate students from Asia and Europe. If you’re interested in a short-term or long-term research stay at SSHMC, we’d be happy to hear from you.
